BABIES AND YOUNG
CHILDREN
COMPLIMENTARY
INFORMATION SHEET

Congratulations on
deciding to become a part of this fascinating industry! This can
be an exciting and lucrative industry for your child – providing your
child has what it takes to pursue the business & you become involved
with the right group of professionals.
The following is
some important information for you as you begin
your pursuits in the
child modeling and talent business.
-
What is your
child’s temperament? Children must not be overly moody, and must
have the ability to be around other children and adults (strangers)
with ease.
-
Children must be
able to hold some kind of focus around bright lights and noise.
Does your child cry when someone uses a flash bulb? This is a
good test.
-
Are you (as
parents) able to get your child to an audition? Availability?
Transportation? Do you have baby-sitting services available for
other children during the audition process? These are important
issues.
-
Does your baby
have hair, and does he/she sit up?
These are important factors pertaining to catalog/print work.
-
Does your baby
smile and have bright eyes? Also, important factors.
-
Is your child
prone to being ill, have severe allergies, and/or finicky
eating/sleeping habits? These are also factors to consider.
-
Parents must
want to do this for their children. It has to be about YOUR
CHILD...
-
As soon your
child does not want to particicipate in the business, or if they are
“no longer having fun”, pull them out! Do not bribe, or force
kids into this business.
-
In finding an
agent… where do you live? Where are you willing to travel to?
Find the nearest larger market to you and begin there.
-
Pursuing this
business should be a lucrative opportunity for your child and not an
expensive opportunity. If something doesn’t feel right, it
usually isn’t.
OTHER NOTES:
-
Agents want to
work with parents who are professional and educated. Learn as
much about the business as possible.
-
A good company
will only receive a commission percentage for work generated for
your child.
-
We do not
recommend re-location to larger markets for young children. (until they are speaking age).
-
Most agencies
will request snapshots of babies and young children. A
professional photo is also acceptable, but a portfolio is not
necessary for young children due to their on-going growth.
-
To find agents
in your area that work with babies, contact Advertising Agencies
located in your yellow pages. They are the best source in
providing you with information on agencies they work with or how
they go about booking their child models. In addition, you may
source out agencies through several publications including books
via…www.models-mart.com.
